Oxfordshire County Council will be holding their Christmas carol service on Monday 15th December 2025 starting at 18:30 at St Nicholas Church Old Marston. The event is free and you are all welcome.

The OPT recreational ground in Mill Lane, is managed by OMPC. OPT have said that they are open to having this space developed as a recreational facility. Have your say: www.oldmarston-pc.gov.uk/mlr/ or email: play@oldmarston-pc.gov.uk. Also we would welcome anyone keen to get involved.

There will be a Christmas Bazaar organised by St Nicholas Church on Saturday 6th December 2025 from 10:00 to 12:00 at the church hall – entrance is free and all are welcome.

Remembrance Service on Sunday 9th November 2025. After the act remembrance we will also be laying wreaths on the graves of the war dead in the Elsfield Road cemetery.

Fireworks Display at the Red Lion this Saturday starting 21:00. The parish council have paid for the fireworks so it is free and everyone is welcome.

Marston Community Market will be back on Saturday 4th October 2025 from 10am to 1pm at Mortimer Hall. Lots of stalls, refreshments, food, arts, crafts and activities – all welcome.

Oxford Old People’s Day will be taking place at the town hall on Wednesday 1st October 2025 from 10am to 3pm. It’s free and open to all. There will be various stalls and information, a digital workshop and various activities.

Marston W.I. will be holding and afternoon tea at St Nicholas church hall tomorrow (Saturday 20th September 2025) from 2pm to 4pm. All welcome. They are raising money for Marston Court. In addition there will be crafts and cards, a raffle and books and puzzles.

There will be a temporary road closure to apply to a length of Mill Lane, for a new water connection on behalf of Thames Water from 14/10/20 to 17/10/25, for 24hrs daily. Limited access for emergency service vehicles and for frontages. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians.

There have been a some instances of arson at the Orchard Triangle which was attended by the fire service. A tree stump has nearly collapsed and there is some damage to the bench. The parish council will be discussing the long term management of this recreational area at our September meeting.

Stories and Crafts: There is a free community event this Wednesday 6th August 10Am to 11:30AM at Mortimer Hall. There will be stories and junk modelling for primary school aged children and families. Just turn up. Any donations for the junk modelling welcome on the day. Organised by library service.

There is a large part of Old Marston known as Marston Hamm. There is a large area of countryside along the River Cherwell. It was settled in Anglo-Saxon times. You can access it from the Victoria Arms next to the outside seating area. www.oldmarston-pc.gov.uk/marston-hamm/

This years OxFest Festival will taking place on 2nd August 2025 from 13:00 to 22:00 at the Red Lion. Entrance is free as it has been funded by the parish council and everyone is welcome. For more information please see attached poster or contact Martin on 07385 490991. Proceeds to charity.
