Regionalism. I was a true believer, but as I learned about the world I realized how my "beliefs" were shaped by the happenstance of my birth location.

I read Trainspotting once every five years; I've read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to my kid twice (on her request); We read the Santaland Diaries every holiday season; I read Hip Hop Family Tree every three years.
