I was thinking maybe M.R. James? But folks already called out de Maupassant. While I have hundreds of books on my to read lists, this makes me want to read him again. My memory is that he was a marvelous short story writer

1. You have to verify any booster you get is the current one. Your Doctor & Pharmacist may not give you accurate info. You need to get detail on the booster they plan on giving you.
