That's sort of what I thought. So I wonder why proponents of wealth taxes etc. don't respond more robustly when the media scream about "wealth creators" leaving.

What is the rationale for having Fuel Duty at all ? Presumably negative externalities, but is there any relationship between those costs and the level at which Fuel Duty is levied ?

Yes, they'll sell in the markets where they can make most profits. But do they also need to produce in those markets ? If I'm currently making a drug for the NHS in , say, Switzerland, and the NHS suddenly agrees to pay more for that drug, why would I move production to the UK ?

Would increasing drug prices in the UK really help to attract pharmaceutical companies ? Aren't drugs produced and sold globally ?
