We have had subzero temperatures for about two weeks, and our greenhouses are still photosynthesizing! This is indication of continued nutrient cycling, even in low temperatures. Our winter cover crop is cruising along, penetrating compact soil, dispersing exudates, and building biology.

We removed many trees, leaving stump-riddled soil which we planted over in pots for two seasons. After this season we dumped the pots, spread black lime and wood chips harvested from the property. In the spring, we will plant a variety of perennial wildflowers and a diverse cover crop.
