Uncomfortably Numb
@oldfartmaxwell.bsky.social
Husband, father, grandparent, care provider, dog lover, militant pedestrian, computer engineer, frisbee thrower, transit lover, gardener, handyman, atheist, skeptic, and old white guy pissed off about everything.
Yep, happy I’m riding the train from Santa Barbara to San Diego.

Shrapnel from prematurely exploded ordinance landed on a CHP cruiser that was part of Just Dance Vance’s detail.

Any further questions on why this was a stupid stunt?

She’s politely saying that the current Democratic Party is dead, unlike many of us who were screaming about this months ago.

The local pumpkin patch started prepping in August. They were supposed to open today, but the place is deserted and there’s at least a week’s worth of work remaining. Definitely not open.

The shortage of day labor is certainly an issue, but perhaps there’s a pumpkin supply problem?

Pretty sure a county assessor can’t waive taxes for a class. This random spam text got a rise out of me.

I’m supposed to walk down Market St. on the sidewalk as far as 2nd, then walk in the middle of Market to Battery, then left up the middle of Battery to Pine. Thanks Apple for the walking directions.

The ‘81 Accord hatchback with the manual tranny was the perfect car for a couple of DINKs, except the clutch was apt to smoke on the hills of San Francisco with passengers in the back. Car was a breeze to work on, too.

Please help @thedancingcat.org rebuild after an SUV took out the front of their center. Everyone’s okay but the cats had to go out to foster homes.

One of several monitoring wells on Homestead Rd. in Cupertino. Silicon Valley’s toxic past will forever be in the ground water.

Secrets from the Instruction Manual:

Store your extra plastic trimmer string in a sealed bag with a tablespoon of water.

I kid you not.

Example of how bad Google Maps is at this point. I search for “Ice”, “Open now”.

I get ice cream retailers and an ice wholesaler who’s closed.

So useless at this point, and I’m a Level 8 Local Guide.

Sneaky, sneaky, Marriott.

What is “flexible” about a booking for October that can’t be canceled after tomorrow?

KONE Elevator has a software problem. Even though the left Down button is illuminated, the floor will not be serviced until the right Down button is pressed. Normally, both call buttons work in tandem. (Push one, the other lights.)

Your friendly elevator analyst.

Cupertino needs a new City Manager yet again. Maybe this time hire someone you won’t need to fire later.

Next in Cupertino city shenanigans: They’re getting their asses sued again for lack of transparency.

I will give Couric kudos for standing up now, but her milquetoast journalism style throughout her career always annoyed me. She could have been so much better.
