You need to have private ones so everyone can plug in and forget about it. Where I live, we have load balanced wall boxes that give 11 kW max. I think I’ve seen it throttled once in 3 years.

It’s a lot more similar than people think. Autopilots on planes and boats are pretty dumb and require monitoring. Several planes have crashed straight into mountains while on autopilot.

Automating a water heater to only do the heating then is pretty easy, but I wonder if the same is possible for cooling. You could chill a liquid in an insulated tank and use it as a heat sink for air conditioning later, but is there anything like that on the market?

You breathe 78% nitrogen now, it’s not a "lethal gas", it doesn’t even trigger a choking reaction. From the description it sounds like he was rebreathing his exhaled CO2 inside the mask, which does give you a choking sensation. Cruel and unusual indeed.
