Try James Harms. ALL of his work is amazing, but my two favorite books were "Freeways and Aqueducts" and "After West". One of the simplest and yet most gorgeous love poems I have ever read is in "Freeways"--it's called "Want".

Jack Whyte's series "Camulod Chronicles" (Arthur from a more historical perspective)--starting with "The Skystone".
Or if you prefer a grittier, VERY realistic Arthur story, try Bernard Cornwell's "The Winter King" series. Ignore the TV show until AFTER, lol.

Well that'll teach me not to read the whole list first before I start recommending stuff. 🤣
I'll put my true sci-fi recommendation here, instead: "Grass", by Sheri S. Tepper. You'll adore it.

Mackenzie Hunter's "Sky Brooks" series (the first one is titled "Moon Tortured"). Definitely urban fantasy, and VERY good!

I don't read a lot of this, but I think "Catch and Kill" by Ronan Farrow would qualify as true crime. It won a Pulitzer, if that matters?

Hmm. Again, another genre we both adore. Have you read "Fourth Wing" yet? If not, then THAT. If so; have you read the "Mistborn" series, by Brandon Sanderson? WoT by Robert Jordan? ACOTAR by Sarah Maas? All solid contenders for "high fantasy".

--CJ Cherryh's "Foreigner" series (more human/alien "space opera" than hardcore sci-fi, but the story is SO good!) The very first bool has to do a LOT of grunt work, so bear with it until the story really "catches" you. But when it does? You'll be devouring this series!

--"The Women" by Kristin Hannah. Basically, an exploration of what life is like during a war for the women. There just aren't enough books examining these hard topics through a female lens, and it's WELL-worth the read.

--This one is tricksy; you're well-read enough that I don't have a clue which classics you've already read. Instead, I'll recommend (in general, to everyone) "Anna Karenina" by Leo Tolstoy. I read this at 14, fell in love, and I re-read it again multiple times a year.
