Depends on when you're talking about. Golden age cartoons looked amazing when new, but so many of us first saw them on tube TVs from faded prints. The limited animation of the 60s-80s required overlapping cels, which caused fuzziness. But the big upgrade was HDTV. Even the classics look amazing.
