Last year at Pumpkinville, a tiny girl broke down in chin quivering cries when it was time to leave.

It was because she didn't want her PUMPKIN to leave its pumpkin family.

We took her photo with it and made a special place for it to stay with its family.

Best volunteer experience ever!

Today, I found the time to see The Cicada. A fun, mobile immersive art space from Itinerant Immersive. It has robots that light up with a theme of space travel. Immersive art is cool.

In today's Oklahoma adventures, it's blackberry season, complete with a sunburn, scratches and a stained hand.

We picked about a gallon and hope to grab some more next weekend.

Oklahoma's best advice can be found on our murals.

At some point, the rain will stop and I can get back out and take photos again. Until then, enjoy this sunrise in southern Oklahoma taken during less rainy days.

And just like that, Leadership Arts has wrapped up. This session's swag haul (Tulsa / Route 66 edition) includes stickers and matches from The Church Studio (home of musician Leon Russell), Kendall Whittier district in Tulsa, and Magic City Books (one of the best indie bookstores around).

Sage advice from a mural in Stillwater. Waste your time wisely, folks.

It's the third installment of Leadership Arts swag, complete with a Woody Guthrie Fest t-shirt, an Oklahoma rose rock, and a super cool artist mushroom sticker. Also, one Woody Guthrie book, picked up at Bliss Books in Stillwater, a cool indie book store with a dog and podcasts playing.

Swag from last month's Leadership Arts session, which included lots of stickers, a handmade bookmark and two books! It's always a good haul when you can get a hard cover museum collection book.

It's hard for me to imagine that people in other parts of the country don't have sunrises and sunsets like this on a regular basis. It's truly the best.

Each corner of our state has a completely different topography. Allow me to introduce you to Southeastern Oklahoma, home of pine trees and crystal clear fishing waters.

I'm not generally into cold mornings, but it's hard to pass up a sunrise in rural Oklahoma when you're near a lake. The sunrises and sunsets paired with the water are pretty awesome.

Swag from month one of OAC's Leadership Arts program - Medicine Park's bluegrass event, the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, a cup from Innhabit (a cool shipping container hotel). Plus, state park stuff I bought.

Find something new in your community this weekend!

Oklahoma is literally burning today, so here's a mountain pic from sunny, brighter times in the southwestern part of the state.

For over two decades, I've almost exclusively flown Southwest. As a conference attendee, traveler and photographer, free bags have been amazing.

I reached out to them about their new bag policy, and received the response I expected. Herb Kelleher is disappointed.

In today's Oklahoma is OK ... a beautiful morning view from Medicine Park, a small, but mighty, emerging arts community in the southwestern part of the state.

I'm still not sure what my photo voice will be over here. Until I get it all worked out, please enjoy another macro plant photo.

Plants, even pointy ones, soothe the soul.

Some more green plant love to brighten these dark and cold days.

On this cold and wintry day, I'm finding a warm refuge in the local conservatory.

The space is full of people who are quietly appreciating the beauty around them. Everyone is off their phones and completely engaged. The kindness is palpable.

Plants and a good environment will do that to people.

In the process of shutting down my IG account and replacing it with this one. I look forward to connecting with you all here.
