Back in 1917 Oklahoma, socialism was a big deal. Their talking point: "Jesus taught socialism."
The Green Corn rebellion grew from this & tried to lead a march to DC. They were for 8-hour workday, old age pensions, child labor restrictions, rent abolition & free textbooks.

My, how things change!

The programs FDR created under the New Deal (like Social Security, unemployment insurance, labor protections, & banking reforms) have been politically contested ever since. The GOP has tried to abolish most of them. They have reduced, privatized, & limited their scope over the decades.

FDR argued that extreme wealth should contribute more to the nation, especially during economic crisis and war. He framed high taxes on the rich as both a moral & practical necessity to fund the New Deal & later the war effort.

We need another FDR!

Watched One to One, John & Yoko. A scene of Billy Graham telling an audience of young kids that they will all die someday in defense of the Viet Nam War was really eye opening.

After telling us to dress better before we go to the airport, now DOT Secy/reality show member Duffy targets inflight snacks, "I would love some better snacks. I would love a little healthier snack on the airplane." Duffy.
So, I guess he wants me to wear my suit & eat carrots. Humus, please?

Just imagine, Voyager 1 was launched in 1977, almost 50 years ago. It carries a unique 'time capsule', the gold record with it into interstellar space. The record has images & natural sounds; thunder, birds, musical selections from different cultures & eras, & spoken greetings in 55 languages.

Despite our middling OECD's PISA scores, the US dominates global higher education. There's a reason international students flock to US universities: Our schools are the best!

Higher ed didn't get there by themselves. Our public ed systems prove tops when PISA scores are presented honestly!
November 24, 2025 at 2:23 PM
Here's a graph showing current reported PISA rankings with hypothetical adjusted rankings if all countries reported their nationwide education data like the USA does.

Ever wanna shout, "USA, USA, USA"?

Well, here's your chance! WTG, USA Public Schools!

The Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD)'s PISA test has a comparability problem: It’s not always “apples to apples” when 1 nation reports elite regions & another (USA) reports the whole nation & many nations "cherry-pick" which part of the test they administer.

Mark Kelly's an American hero.
He's pro-gun control.
He's prochoice.
He's pro ACA.
He's pro economic integrity.
He's a moderate.
He's iffy on climate protection.
He reps a swing state.
He's anti ICE terrorism.

If he ran for POTUS, he'd need to choose a progressive energizer for VP.

I hope he suffers deep hurtful pangs of disgrace every time he walks by his official portrait as Harvard president.
Oh, how the mighty can fall & the very thing they are most proud of can bring them the most pain.
