I forgot I'd written this. I guess one nice thing about America's imminent destruction is that I'm reminded of this very serious commitment to myself.

One of my college professors made us read the phrase "hacked them to death with broadswords" twice. He wanted us to really understand the brutality behind his passion for abolition.

The Civil Rights movement was violent, but it wasn't civil war. As someone who grew up in its shadow and was Pollyanna enough to think it was enough, and now sees her naivete: perhaps the arc of justice only bends towards justice if it's covered in blood. But I have sons. And I don't want blood.

I'm a just passed middle aged white woman. And I'm not convinced violence isn't the answer, so let me know what you figure out!
