108,000 people died in 2023 due to drug overdoses. Preliminary estimates for 2024 are in the 80,000 range. By way of comparison, 178,000 people die annually from alcohol abuse and over 990,000 from heart disease.

Having worked in the business for years - the vast majority of internet connections are hybrids of copper and fiber. Only 35-40% of home connections are pure fiber to the modem. Copper is slower than fiber and susceptible to EMI but it connects flawlessly to fibre through media convertors and ONTs.

Gasoline prices (~$3.07 a gallon) are 44% higher than they were five years ago (~$2.11 a gallon). Gas prices have been in a 41 month decline since hitting a peak in June of 2022. Prices are down 5% since last November, following a 17% reduction in crude oil prices due to softening demand.
