Councillors voted last night for higher rents and higher parking charges. I want to be clear I voted against these.

We put forward an alternative budget for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown that was fair, balanced and fully costed. Fine Gael & Fianna Fáil councillors were the only ones to vote against it.

I'm in Dún Laoghaire County Hall to scrutinise and vote on the council's 2026 budget.

The draft budget presented by the Chief Executive is for €313.7m across all the services the council delivers.

Any questions?

Note: this budget doesn't include capital projects which is managed separately.

The Belmont reservoir saga in Sandyford/Stepaside has run on for many years since planning permission was given back in 2011.

A lesson for planners on how not to give disappearing developers a way to wriggle out of their commitments. #sandyford #stepaside #disappearingdevelopers

Good morning from Sandyford's newest power station.

Where are we and how much electricity are we generating?

I have written to the Cathaoirleach, Fine Gael councillor Jim Gildea, and the Chief Executive of the council to ask they stop promoting this multinational plastic tree company that doesn't even have offices in this country.

We should be supporting our local industry, not shipping in plastic. 3/3

Support local - if you're buying a Christmas tree this year, please buy it from Glencullen Christmas Tree Farm or your local supplier. It's a great family day out right opposite Stars of Erin GAA and just up the road from Johnnie Foxs Pub to warm you up after. 2/3

This is outrageous from DLR - our Fine Gael Cathaoirleach promoting a multinational plastic tree company while we have fantastic local family businesses here growing and selling real Christmas trees for generations. 1/3

Is this new road the solution to traffic jams in Sandyford?

Construction starts this week on the "Junction 14 Link Road" in Sandyford Business District.

Congratulations Catherine Connolly, our next President of Ireland!

Your Green team in Rathdown delighted to have a President that is serious about inequality, the climate crisis and calling out genocide.

Final result in Dublin Rathdown:

Humphreys 40%
Gavin 9%

That was nothing but a racist riot last night in south west Dublin.

Thank you to the Gardaí who did their jobs managing to quell the racist thugs by 10pm.

And a reminder that usually the biggest risk to people's safety are the abusers who are in the riot.

We see plenty of homes being built in Sandyford and the wider Dublin 18 area but where are the community facilities to match?

Imaginosity is now a vacant building here in BSQ in Sandyford Business District. The council need to be acting much faster to bring it into use as a community facility.

"Irish Rail’s new commuter plan will make Thurles as accessible to Dublin as Greystones"

Great for the people of Thurles, where 372 homes were built in the last 8 years. Meanwhile 2,758 homes built in Greystones.

Should we be rewarding anti-housing parts of the country?

We had a fine afternoon meeting residents in Stepaside today and a great response for Catherine Connolly.

The council are flying the national flag at half mast today to mark that it is 10 years today that ten of our neighbours in Carrickmines lost their life in a fire at their homes.

Go raibh suaimhneas síoraí dá n-anam.

I was proud to explain to local residents why I'm supporting Catherine Connolly for president of Ireland, along with colleagues from Labour, Soc Dems, Sinn Féin and PBP.

Catherine is the only presidential candidate to take a strong stance on climate, nature and equality.

Thank you @catherinegalway.bsky.social for visiting Dundrum straight after the RTÉ debate this evening and to the Rathdown4Connolly team for organising.

And for taking the time to speak with every child who wanted a moment and a photo with the next president of Ireland.

Today is the last day to change where your vote is.

The presidential election is on Friday 24th October, the bank holiday Friday.

Wherever you'll be that day, set your address to there to make sure you get the chance to vote.
