OCI's Adam McGibbon says: "As a next step at COP30, Korea needs to join its peers in the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP), & back an ambitious public 💰💰 package for the COP30 outcome. CETP has reduced fossil fuel finance amongst signatories by 78%. That would be true climate leadership."

Between 2020 and 2022, Korea financed an average of $10 billion per year in overseas fossil projects, while only providing $850 million per year in finance to renewable energy projects.

5/ Indigenous leaders led powerful actions demanding a transition rooted in justice, not extraction, joined by some of the 5,000 #ForestDefenders, #Indigenous leaders, and fisher folk in the Boat Parade that kicked off the People’s Summit. Their message? “The people are the answer.”

4/ Today, Indigenous women led a powerful blockade at the COP30 entrance, preventing access for several hours to demand real action to protect their territories. There can be no climate justice without #IndigenousRights and leadership. We stand in full solidarity with their call.

3/ Fossil Fuel Lobbyists Are Everywhere! The numbers are out, and they’re outrageous: over 1,600 fossil fuel lobbyists are attending COP30. That’s 1 in every 25 people in Belém. The arsonists of the climate crisis are inside the firehouse…again.

Without public money, there is no fast, fair and funded fossil fuel phaseout.

Leaders at #COP30 can ensure governments provide 📈⬆️ more than the USD50 billion recommended in this report for a just transition. Governments can do this by delivering the Belém Action Mechanism for Just Transition #BAM, which would deliver a people-centred just transition.
