Moreover, citizens with higher income, higher education, and more left-leaning views react most strongly to MPs who choose not to disclose their side income.
Our survey experiment also shows that citizens evaluate non-transparent MPs based on both the number and type of their side jobs (companies vs. public interest groups).
MPs with undisclosed income from many ties to companies are rated lowest in trustworthiness and electability.
