“These were sophisticated businessmen.” That’s certainly the conventional wisdom. Another possibility is they were not as sophisticated as they wanted others to think.

I hear it most from a Gen X coworker. I know he genuinely means it, but it still doesn’t really land with me. Probably because it ends up being said most often in response to something fairly insignificant and not something that factors into my self worth.

Great job democrats, this will finally stop the republicans from calling literally everything you do socialism.
