I think an issue around this type of topic is that the vocabulary on both the abolition and carcalization side is meant to be provocative. So were always stuck with "ok, everyone is provoked, now what?"

One of the biggest things is that it is an anchor, you're kind of in for a penny, in for a pound. Housing prices go up == taxes go up == outsized impact with slower wage growth == if I have to move I'll be required to geographically displace myself. We've backed ourselves into a corner

I think the big thing is that there's no splitting off in the Catholic Church, so there's a reasonable amount of room to chart your own path. Also, he's a layperson, and they just don't have a lot of relevance to Catholicism or the average Catholic

I think we forgot that there were shoes it was keeping from dropping that are now firmly coming down. Epstien, ACA subsidies, price increases were all going to happen either way

After watching some teens get into a fight while trying to take someone's phone away (I think it was for Robinhood, but same thing), friends/family trying to intervene is up there too
