tonight: the players are double-crossing some pirates. The pirates were last seen heading to a tropical island to raid a dragon's lair. They'll arrive in the aftermath of a landing gone wrong and I think the 'game' is that the pirate captain is attempting to rest while they investigate, so Time = HP

There was a cool counter factual essay (…that I couldn’t find) asking “why don’t people make violent video games”
It posited that because the first attempt was an over-complicated simulation with stress and shock and blood circulation played a role in “aiming guns”, people lost their taste for it

I reached for “captain sonar” as a fun simulationist game and then I remembered that once you get the submarine moving you’re supposed to use it to sink enemy submarines

Will Wright’s early work is very simulationist, any of them could be board games?

They have a number of talented giant robots in the writing room and on the set. This team has access to the director and show runners and are paid consultancy rates for answering questions about culture between seasons. It’s not perfect but they are going to show more of the robodiaspora next series
