The master's level courses I took definitely put emphasis on points 1 through 3. Finding unsupported artifacts and adapt to change of supported artifacts are definitely important points. With many programs being updated constantly, artifacts can change or even be removed by the developer.

My theory is that that phone keyboards don't have a shift key. And as @taggart-tech.com pointed out, no one taught them.

I see a lot of hunt and peck using the keyboard at the college level. One of the weirdest things I've personally noticed was the use of the Caps Lock key over holding Shift for upper case letters.
