Musk’s goal is purely greed and no one was going to let him do this unless they are blackmailed.
The problem here (and why Musk’s wants to buy OpenAI), is that he is too short-sited and child-like to lead a solid team to build anything capable of what OpenAI has done. Cosplay at best.
