He displays shock and horror when he does finally learn of her dark past, something she kept hidden for her own reasons. He is appalled that such things could be allowed to happen to her and go unchecked. His respect for her grows when he realizes her strength at this point.

He has known the girl since she started visited Driftmark as a child, often wondering why Corlys would care for this bastard girl and not his own sons. He is kind to her and watches over her when she visits the docks all the same. Even he recognizes the Targaryen fire within her.

He even saves Corlys from a watery grave, stating that it was his duty. When Corlys finally acknowledges him and offers help and "crumbs of his favor", Alyn declines the offer while letting loose his frustrations. Little does he know that someone aims to change his mind. Daemon's daughter Alyssa.
