A fixed tariff means the price you pay per unit of energy stays the same for your contract term (usually 12–24 months) ✅

From 1 January 2026, the average price cap unit rates for energy are changing. The standing charge for those on a standard variable tariff is increasing.

These are caps on unit rates plus the standing charge (not a cap on your total bill).

The quarterly energy price cap will rise by 0.2% from 1 January 2026. 

This will be a rise of around 28p per month for the average household.
