Tune for today is this stunning remix from Carl Craig. I recall Actress and his DJ partner Gavin playing this at one of their Werk boat parties back in, oooh, 2005? Absolute stunner, it builds veeeery slowly but rewards the listener with multiple payoffs.

Early Rob Playford track as part of 2 Bad Mice. Absolute banger, quite possibly in my all time top ten and the kind of track that could only be made in the UK. That snare sound is ridiculous, I think I read that their sampler malfunctioned. youtu.be/wKODgJ7Z7qg?...

Heavy, suffocating bass action from 2005. I remember buying this from Blackmarket Records back when Soho was full of record shops and not bubble tea / frozen yoghurt outlets.

Ooof, this one goes hard. Authentic, funky, raw, dark mid 90's style techno from Detroit's Max Watts on his own Limited Network label. Good stuff.

I don't buy much ambient stuff but this is another thing that popped up on Bandcamp. Really quite beautiful, textured, droney, dreamlike album. I love track 2, 'Whisper' but the whole album is worth checking out...

Turns out that you can have too much gear. Recently sold a few bits as there was too much choice. Also my old brain can’t remember how to use everything and reading manuals is a vibe killer. Studio is back to where it was a few years ago and I’m already feeling more focused.

Gerald Cleaver is a seasoned jazz drummer from Detroit who has released two albums of electronic material using VCV rack. Some of it is pretty abstract, all of it is interesting. Well worth a listen…

Not usually a fan of Rodhad and that style of techno but his remix of 'Perplexed' by Phase is quite beautiful.

Don't know anything about this artist or label but I stumbled across it on Bandcamp. Lovely track. Guy's got a huge back catalog to explore...

I saw a post with a #fallfriday hashtag, which is a perfect excuse to post my current favourite track from them - MES’s homage to the Can legend Damo Suzuki

So apparently it’s Bandcamp Friday. I haven’t done anything for it because I didn’t know it was happening. But know, there is still stuff there if you fancy taking a listen…

Question to the DJ Hivemind - I want to add a digital capability to my 1210's / Xone 62 mixer. Considering either a pair of XDJ700's or a DDJ-FLX10 controller. Thoughts / experiences?

I did not expect a DJ Funk obituary in The Guardian of all places. 54 is too young, RIP

New track, exclusive to Bandcamp available for free download / name your price. Nice chilled out Detroit style techno groover. This won't be on Spotify or any streaming services, I think I'm done with them. Will be uploading a bunch more tracks over the coming weeks / months... #technosky #techno

I now have a bunch of tracks which I still really like but which don’t sit well with any of my newer material. In the end I was faced with a decision to either let them go or have them sitting on my hard drive, gathering digital dust.... 2/?

Although the years since 2020 have been very productive, I’ve held back from releasing much. It took a long time to reconcile myself with the fact that this label would now be primarily Digital and so here we are.... 1/?
