I’ve communicated so many times with folks who speak a different language through translations. I feel like as long as I was honest about not being able to natively speak, folks were very understanding of the translation mistakes and were still very friendly!

The models I’ve used so far have been adoptable from Etsy. I actually like the Zodiac concept and so I hope to find an artist that can help me create a unique design someday. But for now, I appreciate being able to test the waters.

For anyone who is unfamiliar, a keel is the long beam running along the bottom of a ship/boat, and if a boat is "off keel" it means the boat is unbalanced and tipping to one side. So the colloquialism is that something off keel is off-balance or not running smoothly.

I chose offkeelworld a long time ago because me and wife had often talked about our lives being off-keel from the "standard". So I made up the username and started using it, and it's stuck with me. 😆
