1. We are onto part two of SMTT, which will continue weekly updates until mid March

Something that has haunted me since I was seventeen is the fact that in the Sanders Sides episode "Dealing With Intrusive Thoughts" Virgil confessed he used to be a Dark Side and the episode ends there. It fucking ENDS THERE. Thomas if you're out there I need closure I'm not over it

Chapter Twenty-Four: I Changed The Plans

As I wrote this book, I learned that even when time passes, love doesn't fade easily. I wrote about things that hadn’t crossed my mind in years, and realized I still hold some love in heart and always will
This poem played a huge role in inspiring this book, and it applies to this chapter most out of all of them. There’s not much I can say, but as we near the end of the book, we see a lot of loose ends being tied up and story arcs coming to a close. As we come to this conclusion, we realize that we can’t control everything and we can’t keep everyone. Even as we learn to let things go, though, the love doesn’t fade. It’s still there in your heart, even if you don’t know it. That’s something I learned, actually, while writing this book. I dug up so many moments and memories, nearly all of which happened between three and nine years ago. There were people, places, and moments that hadn’t crossed my mind in years, and periods of time I thought I hated. When I let everything come back, though, I realized there was love in the nostalgia, love that I haven’t felt in years and that, despite all the rough patches the years I wrote about brought about, I still cherish close to my heart and always will

This chapter is very much oriented around the end of senior year. Enjoy every moment, and make those times something you can look back on and smile about while you think about just how damn good it all was
This chapter is very much oriented around the end of senior year, and all the festivities that come with that. Everything is either a celebration, the last time you experience a feeling in your life, or both at the same time. This is all about those beautiful moments, the celebratory parts and the bittersweet final moments. Even if this is the end of an era, this is a moment unlike any other you will feel in your entire life. Take it all in, and leave it beautiful. This is a time that will never pass you by again, but don’t let that sadden you. Enjoy every little moment of it, and make those times something you can look back on and smile about while you think about just how damn good it was

Chapter Twenty: Rite of Passage

This chapter takes us back to the start. If it weren’t for this, everything else we have seen so far would not exist. Is this for the better? Was this the start of something beautiful or the start of something doomed?
This is a chapter that takes us back to the beginning. By this, I mean we go back before the plot, and before any flashbacks we have seen before. We are at the very first moment that made this story, the origin of everything else we have seen so far. If it weren’t for this moment, everything else we have seen so far would not exist. The question is, though, is this for the better? Was this the start of something beautiful or the start of something doomed? Maybe it’s a matter of perspective, something that just can’t be answered. Either way, it’s time to go back to the beginning and see if we can figure out the timeline…

I absolutely love the song “Lonely is the Muse” by Halsey. It’s the perfect song for emotionally intense and angry scenes (as seen in my books End Game and Carolina: Five Years Later), and I’ve used it in 67% of my book playlists to date (two out of my three books so far, more than any other song, I believe). Something More Than This is no exception, and while I’m trying very hard not to spoil too much in these little messages of mine, I will say that this song will appear again to represent a scene in this chapter… (and also, I promise this “Lonely is the Muse” appearance is not as fucked up as End Game and Carolina: Five Years Later were. If you know you know.)

There’s this quote that a professor of mine once said and that I really loved: “There’s never just one history, there’s just the history we happen to have.” This quote came my way during the spring semester of my junior year, when I was finishing up the outline for Something More Than This, and I knew I needed to include it in the book. It felt like a perfect fit from the very beginning. While I can’t say too much about they ways this quote shows up in the book or what it means in the context of the plot yet (you’ll have to read to find out, sorry!), I can say that this chapter is a very important one for untangling what it means and how it affects the narrative…
