This is extra insane because they were baying for blood after Kirk died (for about a week, and then they forgot about it)

Think of it this way - just like the scientific method is a way to discover things and make decisions, so is a trial. The move to make those kinds of decisions by trial, over say, duels, honor killings, whatever has been as consequential (more so!) as the scientific method

By standing by Trudeau and the the confidence and supply deal long after Trudeau was otherwise sunk Singh essentially crashed the NDP into PP, destroying them both. I'm grateful for that
January 22, 2026 at 10:54 PM
I'm emotionally torn about Singh. I still blame the entirety of the Harper years on a) the NDP for bringing down Martin, and b) the liberals for backing out of the coalition with NDP when Harper had a minority.

In the first book the bad guys arrive (500 of them) in a single cart pulled by a horse, which is presumably normal sized, and implies that humans exist. This implication never seems to get raised again.

And stockpile fpvs to target American politicians in warehouses inside America. The border is very long and porous

Canada has certain advantages those other places didn't, including being indistinguishable from Americans while in America, and the possibility of carrying out the insurgency from within America with the help of Americans. With warning the Canadian government coukd counterfeit American IDs,

I do believe it. Bananas system

Probably not the smartest thing electorally, but they could hold the primary for the next president in year 1 of a republican's term and then appoint a shadow cabinet etc.
January 19, 2026 at 2:24 PM
In fairness, it was not even your post that I was responding to, it was another guy saying this is the "death rattle" for Trump etc., and my point was meant to be more like "there is a lot more of this to come" and it's a mistake to expect them to just kind of flame out
January 15, 2026 at 3:32 PM
That's admittedly not a good summary of what you meant either, that's just how I read it.
January 15, 2026 at 3:25 PM
If this is about me, that's not what I meant! I sorry if I read too negatively your "Trump can't get more popular, therefore we will win" post. We need a plan for more fighting!
January 15, 2026 at 3:23 PM
I agree they can't hold any major American cities. But they do hold the white house! Are democrats gonna set up a legislature in exile and try to rule from there? What Trump is doing won't "work", but that's not enough. Eventually it has to be stopped, but he's not gonna until he is made to.
January 15, 2026 at 3:16 PM
I don't think that either. Trump can be beaten! But we need a plan beyond hoping Trump/Republicans are restrained by how unpopular what they are doing is. I don't think Trump is going to give up and I don't think MAGA just collapses on its own
January 15, 2026 at 3:12 PM
No, they will not. But you dont need that to start shooting people. How many dictators have incompetently driven their countries into the ground?
January 15, 2026 at 3:09 PM
What is the move if Trump arrests the incoming Democratic house members? I don't think it's enough to just say that will be unpopular and therefore we will win.
January 15, 2026 at 3:07 PM
Ok, but i think Republicans are also internalizing that Trump will be even less popular than he is now by November. So what do you think their next move will be? Because lose the election and give up power until sometime after Trump is gone does not seem likely. They will try harder to end democracy

I think people got raises, inflation ate most of it, and so they feel cheated

They see their politics/values (mostly "professionalism", and proper process) at a level above actual politics. Their policies don't flow directly from their politics. They first have to apply a technocratic rational mixed with poll tested political savy (and chats with journos) to produce action
November 24, 2025 at 12:36 PM
I think it's kind of downstream from a view of themselves as the referees of politics rather than participants. In a pluralistic way they are trying to manage different social groups together, not advance their own. The right got very good a "working the refs"

The Curzon line is well to the west of Poland's 1919-39 borders. It's basically the current border between Poland and Ukraine
