Unfortunately, that is not in the US interest; their only concern is China, why a weak Russia is better than a disolved federation up for grabs. Anything will be sacrificed, apparently, for that goal.

True. There will be no real peace with Putin in charge. Would he settle - even at current maximalist demands - he is also dead and he knows it. Putin must go.

Whereas if Russia LOSES this war, or if Ukraine regains a hefty chunk of the occupied lands, Putin will be seen as a loser in Moscow, quickly replaced and deals with a new leader will be much easier and fruitful.

So helping Putin to escape now actually harms the US economy.

Your point is absolutely valid in a country where paranoia is a useful trait. Yet, a traditional answer is that the relatively low flat rate income tax at 13% limits the risk reward in the tax cost vs being found out in a repressive society.
