Did MLS buy like 12 guaranteed roster spots on every USMNT roster (by financing the Poch hire? )

I’m starting to get scared. Are the podcasters going to love to hate this roster?!?! What’s happening?!?!!

In regard to CCV, I’d rather have Zimmerman or Miles Robinson. As a theoretical exercise, I’d also rather have additional wide players like B. Aaronson/Zendejas over a third striker (assuming here it’s Sargent ).

My only real objections with your roster are with Schulte, CCV, Wright and Sargent. I wish Downs had gotten more run in this Gold Cup, and that Zendejas/Sargent had been called in, if only to see what they could actually contribute

Agree. You think the Federation has internally greenlighted him looking for another job (to save face)?

Because in the context of global soccer and cultural history, the USMNT was/is a ragtag newcomer, whereas the USWNT is the establishment and traditional power.

Several of these guys were injured/out and left off wthe provisional roster that was submitted. As such, they couldn’t be named to the final Nations League roster.

Arriola actually is an “injury what-if” because Berhalter wouldn’t play Weah in front of him until he got injured pregame vs Jamaica. Weah never looked back from there.

This is the BlueSky difference. No one would ever rationally say they were mistaken on X. 😂

Same. Maybe it leaks today?

I’ve been a fan of the USMNT since 1994. I remember how thirsty the program was for any sort of mainstream American acknowledgment. It’s different now, for better or worse.

The Ingersoll Trump watch in particular is very eerie to me. (And very Alice in Wonderland). Just a fun thought experiment to Google all the Alice in Wonderland references by Jared Kushner talking about Trump 😂😂. Content!

Lace, have you seen the Trump Time Traveler conspiracy? It has strong Alice in Wonderland vibes, which reminded me of you always referencing being “through the Looking Glass” when talking about Trump. Are you the White Rabbit telling me to wake up from the simulation? 🤓

Fair enough. I’m interested to see if he gets called up in March, and if so, what he looks like under Poch. Maybe it’s what he needs.

I thought Hoppe was on the verge of becoming a core USMNT pool guy. Odd to see talented guys flameout. Hopefully he gets back on track.

He’s never shown anything with the USMNT. Some players are better club players than national team players. It’s an odd occurrence but it’s real. He’s looking like this generations Taylor Twellman to me. I rate him behind Balo, Pepi, and am more interested in seeing Agyemang get more minutes tbh

Same. The possibility we have the best coach we’ve ever had in charge of perhaps the most talented roster we’ve ever had is very exciting.

Interested to see if Steffen has anything to offer or if he’s a total write off.
January 22, 2025 at 11:17 PM
I wanted to see more of McGlynn and Agymang. Maybe in second half hopefully.

I saw something to the effect that the plan by both sides (as intended) is to keep Poch after 2026 WC, assuming it goes well. I think it was an article detailing the finances of the hire.

Weah is the most naturally gifted player on the squad. He might end up being our best player in 2026. Poch seems really taken with him.

Mi interesa el USMNT. Soy un Mexicano-Americano que he segido el equipo dresde USA 94. 👍🏼
