It's Here! I wrote a career retrospective on Nanae Takahashi who retired back in May this year. A deep dive into the 28 years of her career that's filled with great matches and a sprinkle of controversy. Inject yourself with some PASSION: essenceofpuro.substack.com/p/inject-som...

Picky bits, beer and Forest on Boxing Day. Can’t get any better.

And finally Eddie v Chavo Guerrero at Royal Rumble 2004. Another personal favourite of mine so I had to include it in this little list. A short match with a great story behind it, they’ve definitely had better matches than this but it holds a special place in my heart.

Another SmackDown banger from 26th Aug 03 which was in Eddie’s hometown of El Paso where he put his US title on the line against John Cena. Cena working as a heel and Eddie as the face just worked so well with how hot the crowd was for their guy. This lead up to their famous parking lot brawl.

Back to WWE, Los Guerreros were my favourite tag team growing up and in my top of all time so you know I need to include a match from them. From 28th Nov 02 SmackDown episode Los Guerreros vs Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. Can’t go wrong with a match including these guys.

Somehow, Eddie’s only Meltzer 5 Star was a 2 out of 3 falls back in 1994 in AAA. Eddie and his tag partner Art Barr vs El Hijo del Santo and Octagon. It’s available on YouTube and let me preface very of its time but it’s a neat bit of Lucha history.

Another WCW match up. Nitro was known for having some great cruiserweight matches just randomly thrown on there and this one from the 8th Jul 96 episode was a pretty good one against Psicosis. Psicosis is, imo, super underrated as a performer and innovator from the 90s.

A follow up from their famous Halloween Havoc match this time at the next months PPV World War 3 1997. Eddie and Rey Mysterio always had incredible matches together and this is no exception, all of their matches were such a fun easy watch to get lost in.

First up his match with RVD at Backlash 2002. This was the first wrestling dvd I got after saving up my pocket money as a kid and I’ve seen this countless times. Like all of Eddie’s stuff, it still holds up even today.

What’s a match you can watch over and over and never get sick of? 🤼

I don’t even know if there’s a match graphic but Eddie v Malenko at Starrcade 97 is such a great match.

All things aside, I had such a great time at wwe live last night. Cody truly is the man and the staff who helped my lil disabled ass out deserve all the thanks in the world.
