Once you're started disconnect the cables EXACTLY one at a time again. Let the newly started vehicle run, feathering the gas to charge it faster, then take it for a little run, 20 min and see if it holds the charge

Ouch! No need to shout 🤣 Connect the cables ONE terminal at a time. Clip the Red cable to the postive terminal of the dead battery.
Then clip the other end of the red cable to the positive terminal of the boosting vehicle.
Do the same process for the black cable, first to the dead battery
