Here's everything I read in June, with thanks to flight delays. I enjoyed all of these, although I think Amanda Nguyen's book was my stand-out, followed by Lonely Mouth. I'm still trying to fully understand The last Samurai...

My book haul from the library.

Stuff I read in May.
The MFG book was meh, everything else was great!

Tina Brown's Vanity Fair diary was as juicy as I expected (she called Brois Johnson and epic shit!) and also how did anyone keep up with the pace of NYC in the 1980S.

Stuff I read in April...

Mixed bag. I'd recommend The Disaster Tourist and The Parable of the Talents.

At Dusk was also good, but I struggled to care about the characters.

February was hectic and besides a relatively meh crime novel that I've already returned to the library Patriot is the only thing I've read. Alexei Navalny wasn't perfect but his story typifies the treatment of any who brook opposition to the Putin regime. #books

Stuff I read in January. It was a bit of a 50:50 reading month. I loved Orbital and The Girl who Fell Beneath the Sea.

The rest was all a bit meh. The Trunk seems like it was poorly translated, Future Perfect had a great premise but was poorly executed (wins at clunky dialogue).

If you like fantasy with no spice, or if you're looking for a younger YA novel this might be the book for you. The girl who fell beneath the sea is a beautiful (albeit loose) retelling of an old folktale. Also how beautiful is the cover art 🥰

I just looked up from reading and my whole patio looked pink so I went outside and saw this! Such a gorgeous sunset.

First 2 books I read this year + 1 dog who would like a treat please. (1/3)

Yes my Christmas tree is still up, take your judgement elsewhere 🙄

I love this little dog so much.
And she loved trotting around Kings Park, Perth last week.

A trip to Perth means an opportunity to browse bookstores and here's what I came away with.

Stuff I read in November. Loved Creation Lake, I am a fan of unsympathetic female characters.
The Eileen Collins bio was factually interesting, but a bit dry. And The Great When was a struggle mainly because I just didn't care about any of the characters.

Creation Lake was great and a worthy member of the Booker Prize short-list (I mean, what would I know). Finished it in a couple of days. Might read it again. I like a female character who is largely unsympathetic.
