I'm playing 9 Years of Shadows and this is clearly made by people who love old anime, chiefly Saint Seiya.

It's a mix that normally would not work, but it does. A contrast of old and new that could be jarring but isn't (much).

An excellent example for me is Eucharist's "A Velvet Creation".

The mix is bad, the guitars are wet and the drums a tinny but I love it to death. It just "fits" for the atmosphere of the album, feels right like water flowing downwards.

At the same time I often prefer the original because of familiarity and also because a "better" mix is not always better

A "bad" mix can still be good, give identity to the album

Gifted myself Nine Sols for Christmas and the hype was well deserved, the game is excellent.
