We have a way to check if this is true. Look at the 2018 tariffs on Chiness goods. They had a negative effect on both manufacturing and employment for the US. Any domestic benefit they provided were offset by increased production costs!

“Shady” would be charging extra on mundane technicalities. The words you’re looking for are immoral, corrupt, and unjust. When you leave people no means of addressing an utterly rotten system, they often resort to violence. To be clear, that isn’t a positive thing, but it’s reality.

Wrong question. The right question is how corrupt, how unaccountable, how immune to redress, how protected by the political and monied interests, does a system have to be to inspire someone to commit murder, and be cheered on by the majority of the nation?
