Indeed we know exactly what the effects are because of the Kelton curve. MMT superstar Stephanie Kelton shows that there is a slowdown as rates rise but that reverses and goes back to expansion as rates climb further

Despite what everyone thinks taxes don't pay for any government spending, all spending is from new money created. Tax revenue (french for return) negates previous spending, when cash is returned it's actually burned.
