Having now finished playing it, Deltarune and X/1999 bear a lot of similarities in that both of them feature a group of queer teenagers destined to save the world and likely die in the process, with said prophecy also trying to strip them of their queerness (Weird Route, FuuKam’s whole thing)

More headcanon time: Rin played Deltarune and started deeply identifying with Kris. When he got to the Mancountry bit in chapter 3 he kinda stared a bit before telling himself that the future greatest striker in the world could not question “his” gender and burying everything deep inside.

Obviously in any form of reality resembling our own are the BLKers’s relationships public. Football as a culture is deeply homophobic. There’s probably a couple of memes on r/soccercirclejerk about them, and a couple of RPF fujin working away in the yaoi mines but that’s it.

One very interesting thing about Kaiser living in poverty as a child is that his father likely wasn’t living in poverty alongside him: he seemed to have a decent amount of money from his producer days, it’s just that Kaiser was incredibly neglected and abused.

All Blue Lock ships have mischaracterisation and OOC behaviour and whatnot, but the continued tendency of Kiis fans to take Kaiser’s monologue about how Isagi gave his abuse meaning at face value (and misinterpreting many other moments) is, shall we say, rather notable
