Still can’t completely do hands/fingers, I see, though definitely much harder to tell at a glance.

More evidence that all useful AI is just a mechanical Turk in the end.

If a joke is seen “5, 10, or 15 years later as racist”, then it was already racist 15 years ago.

I try to live my life so that my jokes will never be interpreted as racist. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It doesn’t feel very difficult so far.

I cannot decide if the 3 looks like some elongated boobs, a pair of swinging nuts, or just a comic butt.

Hi,👋 from like 4 hours away!

Yes! I got some high end JBL with noise cancelling. I haven’t used them much outside the house, but even being able to shut my kids’ noise out for a couple houses every so often is a great boon.

The next time someone tells you to stop living in the past, explain how difficult it is not to!

Everything you experience, especially externally to yourself, happens in the past. Because of signal processing time from your senses through your nervous system to your attentional faculties takes time.

Sure, the timescale is small (ms in many cases), but the delay is real.

Yes, I think so!

Well, I don’t know the specific etymology for rådjur, but rå can mean basic, so “rå djur” could mean a “basic animal” aka a deer, which is *the basic animal*! 🤣
November 21, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Yes! It’s even more obvious in Swedish, where the word is djur, which I don’t really know how to spell in English phonetics but it sounds pretty similar to deer. Maybe deeyur? A word for deer now is rådjur, to distinguish it from other djur (animals).

In Pittsburgh, for example, drivers opposite you will turn right in front of you seemingly without regard for right of way or danger! And people regularly drove 50+ mph in 35 zone. But then they will drive like 45 mph on the motorway and just swerve around without turn signals! 🤯

I knew it went beyond Sweden, but I never knew it went to the US!

Maybe some day it will have an effect.

I knew that it spread to the EU, but I did not know it went global! Well, we can keep trying.

Even visiting Germany now, which I do a lot, I’m like WHY do you let people drive so fast in town!?
November 21, 2025 at 7:47 AM
My municipality has 40 kph in the Centrum on most roads, but 30 kph on many residential streets.

When I lived in Germany, it was quite unnerving how many residential streets were 50 kph. There were a lot of 30 kph, eg when the streets are particularly narrow or twisty, but dang…

As someone who has loved the internet since about 1997, I am no longer 100% convinced we are better off with it than we would have been without it.

The reality is that it is here to stay, but I can no longer say, as I would have 10 years ago even, that the downsides are nevertheless worth it.

We have something called Vision Zero in Sweden, which aims for zero traffic related deaths some day. I feel like we take it pretty seriously.

I feel like the US would have difficulty implementing even Vision Not Quite So Many.

My beliefs were reinforced by that hatred of speed cameras discourse.
