Baby Ume just explored the large waterfall habitat with her mom, Yuna, for the very first time. The 252-pound tapir calf swam, frolicked, snuffled through the grass, chomped on sticks and snacks, and chirped with pure tapir joy. 🌿

Our tapir calf is growing fast, and her changing coat proves it! At just two months old, Ume's already starting to lose the stripes and spots that help camouflage young tapirs in the wild. These signature markings will gradually fade away and disappear entirely by the time she’s about six months old

Today, we’re celebrating our wonderful Malayan tapir, Yuna, who turns 11 today! 💖 Yuna welcomed her calf, Ume, just two months ago, and she’s been an incredible mother from day one. Help us wish Yuna the happiest of birthdays and send some love to this amazing mama! 🥳
