The downside is that your display will probably nag you to run the wear-leveling process occasionally to keep the image uniform.

If it helps, newer OLEDs are expected to last a lot longer by the simple expedient of being more light-efficient (they are driving the OLEDs much more gently for the same amount of brightness), and because they have a lot more spare dynamic range set aside for wear-leveling.
