Nice to see the publication of a piece I know very well in a book that I want to know better!
I know several schoolteachers in languages (some of whom were my classmates at @uniofbath.bsky.social who are making this argument for imperfection in language studies, suggesting schools are deterring students and results driven teachers from language study by making it too hard early on.

Great to see our colleague and friend Siobhán Shilton delivering her inaugural lecture as Professor of French last night. She’s actually been professor the whole time we’ve been here, and seems like she’s been a colleague much longer 🙂
