Ha, that would be an interesting double feature with The Thing! We can lobby to consider The Thing a "Ghost Story for Christmas."

Can be a great movie to watch at Christmas without having to be technically a Christmas movie?

I've argued that Mina was the first character to do the montage of crime investigation, putting all the evidence together.

Warm kindly spells going your way!

Excellent! I always miss the Saturday events because that's just a time I can't do anything, although some have looked very fun.

Two Qs: will it be okay if one misses some Zoom sessions, and/or if one has good intentions but falls behind? LOL. I have a lot of family stuff going on, and it's hard to say what I can commit to right now. But I love this! I've never met anyone else who's read Fantomina, and this seems really cool.

I forgot about him! I walked out of the theater asking WHY?

On the other hand, I remember True Story very fondly, and really liked the characterization in Penny Dreadful. The story was changed, but the monster had the balance between victim & villain.

I shouldn't be so hard on it, but I was just baffled by these plot decisions, when it worked so hard visually to put us in a Frankenstein world. I saw someone say that del Toro loves the monster too much to make him evil, but that loses a lot of depth!

Elizabeth being the "oh, yeah, I guess I'm going to marry her" girl tells us about Victor. The Creature being very sympathetic but still willing to murder her tells us about him. I scoffed in the theater when I realized Victor was going to shoot her accidentally.

A lot of people I know love it, but I was underwhelmed. It's beautiful, good acting, etc. Well-made. I was just WHAT THE HELL is this story? William & Elizabeth? Victor & Elizabeth secret love?

Hey, @nytimes.com, this is a despicable take.
