i do enjoy drawing more intimate and emotional moments especially when they’re subtle.

pg 5 of ch 5 of my comic. Jester offers Chu Chu a fruit snack saying “Here! Try a fruit snack!” Chu Chu stares down at the fruit snack. His hunger meter is full and then the gummy disappears, a +1 stat added to his hunger meter. “Nice! That seemed to do the trick!” TomCat says and Jester smiles saying “Why don’t you take the rest of these, dude?” Chu Chu gazes down at the bag of fruit snacks with hearts in his eyes.

He sort of just appeared in my home world.” Jester asks “Woah, how is that possible?” and TomCat replies “Honestly, I was hoping you knew.” Jester pops a fruit snack in his mouth as he asks “So, like, whats his deal?” Chu Chu replies “My stomach speaks” thru his translator. TomCat says “Poor guy… doesnt remember anything. Not even what he likes to eat.” Jester turns around thinking as he looks at Chu Chu.

pg 2 of chapter 5 of my comic. TomCat asks his brother “you on your way to work?” and Jester replies “Nah, I’m working tonight. The radio station is gunna broadcast the commentary for the Dance POP competition tonight.” (In the background maggie asks Jester if he wants his usual a dirty chai and he replies yes). TomCat says “A Dance POP competition?” as a shadowy ominous figure looms over him in a flashback. “Your cool guy act isnt very convincing, bro.” Jester laughs as he asks “Why don’t you come back around and give it another shot, TomCat?” TomCat looks uncomfortable and anxious. pg 3 of ch 5 my comic TomCat slouches over in defeat as he starts to say “I dunno, I-“ and then he bolts up as Jester says, “Hey, TomCat…” ChuChu looms above him as Jester asks “Is this big guy a buddy of yours?”

here’s the final version of the page digitally cleaned up. This is the most doctoring I’ve had to do in post so far. That TomCat in the third and fifth panel are completely drawn digitally. If you wanna compare it to the original version, its in the post attached :3
ChuChu ducks down into the treasure chest and begins to pull out different gadgets. He pulls one out and TomCat says “Thats my pocket typewriter! Never know when novel inspo hits!” ChuChu pulls out another and TomCat says “Rotary phone watch! Just in case a friend needs to know the time on the go!” ChuChu pulls a third one out but TomCat covers it from the audience’s view as he says “Oh! I didn’t know that one was in there!! Lets put that away!!” and then he asks with a flustered awkward smile “What’re you looking for anyhow?”

Someone off screen says “I’ll take some coffee if you got some ready.” A new character arrives, walking in his hand in his pocket and waving: he’s a dog with goggles and a floral shirt, and he greets the crew saying “Sup, big bro?”

There are human players like me- non virtual people who put on a headset to work, play and socialize in this virtual world called SimCom. And then there are virtual beings like TomCat- artificial intelligence born within SimCom, living, playing and working alongside human players. SimCom is the overarching virtual world. The town we’re in, Kaleido District is just one of many places you can go. So Chu Chu, which are YOU?” Chu Chu gazes up pensively at the question.

pg 7 of ch 4 of my comic: ChuChu stares down at the takoyaki as it starts to float, his antennae using a beam of energy to pick it up. ChuChu asks a question and TomCat interprets saying “He says he doesnt know what a SimCom is.” Maggie, looking a little irritated, says “Look, dude, its simple. I’ll break down for you. (Please pay attention).” Chu Chu and TomCat are enraptured by Chu Chu’s ability to levitate the takoyaki, TomCat saying (Woah! He’s making the takoyaki float!)

Here, try some takoyaki.” As Chu Chu stares at the ball between his flipper hands, Maggie asks, “So what’s this guy’s deal? Is he a virtual being or a human player?” TomCat asks him, “Well, Chu Chu. Are you a virtual being born in SimCom or a human player with a headset on?”
