We may hope, but it's a big assumption that people will make the connection. The connection is real, but it's not hard to pretend or imagine that it isn't.

Convenience is such a huge factor – I'll eat whatever other people are having. The culture fight seems pointless, but just having more, better, inexpensive, and convenient options is key. Tasty, easy recipes go a long way.

Agree entirely with your assessment of the left's progress. It's not a dead project, and we should nurture our successes, but ... ooof.

The implication that we're near the end seems naive. I don't think the left has experienced enough success for that to be a plausible default assumption. Signs are that collapse will be at least as capitalist as growth was.
