Totally agree with you. Hallucinations are a consequence of the model. They cannot be fixed. The irony is that these tools are helpful when you know what you're asking, and deceiving when you have no idea. Since I assume they wil not magically disappear I think we should adapt, until true intelligen

The reason I'm so sure is that we are working on real intelligence and have results, nothing to do with traditional AI. I'm not pointing you to a relevant post as you may find a slop image :-)

The point I'm trying to make is that llms will eliminate some jobs the same way word processors eliminated some secretaries. But they are nowhere near intelligence. We should not fear them. Criticize plagiarism and temporary environmental impact, yes. But they are here to stay, so we may well adapt

I do not defend plagiarism. Copyright should be enforced. That fact that content producers are not rewarded for their work is a disgrace. I agree with you. The ecological disaster I think is just temporary. Soon models will run on mobiles.

See, this is the partisan attitude. Either you fall in love with llms or you despise them. They are programs, tools you can use to enhance your expression especially for non native speakers. Just tools.

because it is helpful as a *tool*. Why not use excel to speed up calculations? Just do not fall in love with excel!

I do not dismiss the paper you cited, it is interesting. Cellular automata are interesting as well. You can spend days looking for interesting behaviors. But the question remains: who frames the problem?
November 2, 2025 at 12:49 PM
Jeffrey, that is exactly my point, quoting from the paper: "the simple objective of hide-and-seek, and standard reinforcement learning algorithms". You framed the problem and discovered emergent behaviors that you did not program directly.

Are you aware of an algorithm that frames?
November 2, 2025 at 12:47 PM
Of course you can use true randomness in an algorithm, but you still need to frame the algorithm. On the other hand, sorry if it that was not your point ...

@irisvanrooij.bsky.social another way to think about the frame problem is that we need a new conceptual framework www.ocrampal.com/the-code-tha...

Yes, I haven't read his books but watched some videos. His views on how one should approach neuroscience are relatable. I like the idea of the two hemispheres.

Geneosophy is based on neuroscience's discoveries, although I have not yet written about it yet!

@timholtwilson.bsky.social yes. It is the only tool available today. When I say maths I include logic and programming. But there's another way, which does away with determinism. It is what we developed as part of applied Geneosophy.

@timholtwilson.bsky.social Agree. Bergson, Husserl and others had strong intuitions that lead them to highlight the limitations of the traditional approach. But they failed to come up with an expressive framework that goes beyond mathematics, on which the scientific method is built. Geneosophy ...

@timholtwilson.bsky.social Yes, that's the traditional scientific route. Identifying what is measurable. But there is a deeper way, the geneosophic way: introspection to highlight the form that "generates" what is measurable and what is felt in general ...
