Something that seems fundamental to me about ChatGPT, which gets lost over and over again: When you enter text into it, you're asking "What would a response to this sound like?" If you put in a scientific question, and it comes back with a response citing a non-existent paper with a plausible title, using a real journal name and an author name who's written things related to your question, it's not being tricky or telling lies or doing anything at all surprising! This is what a response to that question would sound like! It did the thing! But people keep wanting the "say something that sounds like an answer" machine to be doing something else, and believing it *is* doing something else. It's good at generating things that sound like responses to being told it was wrong, so people think that it's engaging in introspection or looking up more information or something, but it's not, it's only, ever, saying something that sounds like the next bit of the conversation.

So it looks like my Mac will be supported by macOS 26 'Tahoe’. Though I'm not sure I want it.

Might just stick permanently on Sequoia until I eventually replace it with Linux.

No idea whose cat this is other than one of my many neighbours, but they are so bold! Literally ran in through my door and had an explore of my house.

Pretty sure this is the cat that had a beef with my Suki and also the orange menace across the street.

Super friendly with people though.

Today’s (not so) fun task was dismantling my keyboard to remove its newly acquired 'spicy pillow’.

Really don't want the battery exploding on my desk or anything. So best to be safe while I wait for the replacement v2 kit to arrive.

A NuPhy Air75 (v1) keyboard partially dismantled on a desk. Multiple groups of keycaps have been removed exposing the screw holes so the back could be removed to access the swelling battery pack.

With how awful the world is lately, I’ve been getting weekly peace visiting a cat cafe and having a few hours where I can just relax and forget everything. ☕️🐈

I think I’ll adopt a new cat this year at some point but for now this will do. Losing Suki last year still hurts. 💔
A white and black rag-doll cat, squeezing himself into a whiskers cat food box. His name is Beau and he has the most beautiful blue eyes. A Sphinx cat named Dobby. He’s snuggled up under my jacket peeking out towards the camera. A black rag-doll kitty named Jasper sat on a wooden cat tree. He’s rather anti-social usually but as a regular now he accepts me enough to lay on my lap very rarely.
