Just recalled an afternoon with Iain Banks at a sci-fi con at Glasgow Uni. In the amazing Reading Rooms, competition was to write a story in less than 100 words.

I really don’t like posting photos of my kids, but son #2 absolutely loved that “IRL version” of his cuddly toy, & tbh Ziggy lived him too, you can tell by the eyes

This was Ziggy, he knew lying on my keyboard pissed me off.
This was only one of his many tricks for pissing me off in a loveable way.
Sadly no longer with us, cancer of the liver got him when he was 7 😢

I was clueless when I got Sully, my Border. It was the breeder who told me.
When Sully comes in from the garden maukit, I say “yer aw’ mucky!” & he goes straight into his box. Only problem is the big mucky paw prints from garden door to his box.

For those curious, imagine a floor to ceiling wall of death-grey squished latex baby heads.The wall was 2 panes of glass at the top of a staircase, so the horror got worse as you walked up.
