Oh, but it's not just the majority of Americans, it's been baked into this country's DNA since its founding. The role of government has always been to protect the liberty of the wealthy from the tyranny of the poor. Hitler and Mussolini looked to us for inspiration, don't you know?

I'm just another you, and you're just another me.

Fascism uses propaganda to make people stupid, so yes, it was, and still is, about fascism. Of course, if we held the election today, Trump would lose, because we've had a whole year to reflect on and regret our decisions. (Not my decision, I'm a felon and can't vote. I would've voted for the PSL!)

We only hear what we want to hear
We only see what we want to see
We only learn what we want to know
We only go where we want to go
Our perceptions dictate our reality
Your perception of me is not my responsibility

I'm sorry, what was that? I got the notification that you replied, but you're fast with the delete button @collapsewatch3.bsky.social

Trump still would have won in 2024 even if everyone had turned out to vote, Pew finds

Trump still would have won in 2024 even if everyone had turned out to vote, Pew finds
In 2024, 64% of the eligible-voting population turned out, the second highest in 120 years. New data show that even if all those voters who stayed home had voted, Trump would still be president today.

Last I checked, 49% is more than 36%. You're not surrounded by lazy non-voters, you're surrounded by fascists.

Technically the ninth, and we're merely the ninth species in the genus Homo; all eight previous species of Homo have gone extinct, along with 99.99% of all life that has ever existed on earth. To think that we sapiens are somehow exempt from this rule is the epitome of hubris and self-importance.

Cascading catastrophic uncontrolled meltdowns tend to have that effect. And yes I know about the dogs of Chernobyl and the fungus growing on the elephant's foot. The thing I keep coming back to is that the rate of change is what matters. One meltdown can be shrugged off, but many in succession? Nah.

What happens when nuclear energy facilities go unmanned? What happens when all those anthropogenic radioisotopes sitting in spent fuel pools boil off the water and the zirconium cladding spontaneously catches fire? What happens when the ozone layer is stripped away and the biosphere is sterilized?

The fact that we refer to the death of mankind as The End Of The World As We Know It perfectly describes how & why mankind will die. The half-life of enriched uranium is 4.8 billion years. When humans destroy ourselves we will destroy all life on the planet.

If only shutting them down were as simple and easy as flipping off a light switch. If only the spent fuel rods didn't need to sit in swimming pools for years before being moved to dry cask storage. If only the casks could be stored in deep underground repositories instead of on-site at the surface.

If the human species fails to make a go of it here on Earth, we will leave a radioactive wasteland no longer suitable for life. Have a good week! 👍
