And then… there was one.

The most pointy, the most slanted, the sleekest front end of them all. At the very top of their range was the E31 8 series. BMW wanted you to know it. It’s nose is so sleek that you couldn’t mistake it for anything else

One of the greatest cars of all time and in my personal top 10. I’ve owned this car twice it’s so good

This is the E38 7 series. A large executive sedan but what I want you to pay attention to is the front end you can immediately see how much wider and slanted it is compared to the 5 and 3 series

The next car in their lineup was the E39 5 series. One of the BEST cars BMW has ever made. One step up from the 3 series and you can immediately see the front end difference. It’s sleeker, more modern, and slightly more aggressive. You can see how the body lines flow “upward” from the nose

At the bottom of their range at the time was the E36 3 Series. Technically the E36 is the end of the previous generation of cars but it’s 90-00 run aligns it more with the later 30 series cars

Still sleek, but mostly square, very normal front face. This is the M3 which is sleeker than the normal

The complete opposite of what today’s automotive trends are. Everyone is focused on these very large aggressive looking front ends that taper off like a tear drop

But in the 90’s BMW was obsessed with wedges
