Bill 60, which is about to be passed bans bike lanes that remove a vehicle lane outright. The part of the bill that bans these new lanes is not being challenged in court, just the removals. Either way, this can all be undone by whatever government ousts Ford.

Commercial uses on major streets will be city-wide, all designations here (minus some carveouts): toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis... and here are more community street examples (+ all other Old Toronto/East York wards). Stores/cafes also permitted on neighbourhood streets that abut parks/schools.

Commercial uses such as retail, restaurants, coffee shops, barbers, doctors' offices, gyms, and artist studios will now be allowed on residential parcels on "major streets" (example, 1st image). Corner stores and cafes will be allowed on corner lots abutting community streets (example, 2nd image).

Also, do you think #2 can be prioritized by council since it is not in conflict with Bill 212 or Bill 60? Contraflows on streets that are one-way, everywhere! The current “west parkdale connection” doesn’t give much hope considering it never feels safe baking against traffic on those streets.

These are your two changes, but cyclists by and large already do them. Yes, they would help legally. Do you think they would have any meaningful difference in safety of cyclists or mode share transition?

I also hope this disproves the theory that Montreal is a cycling city and Toronto is not, considering some Bloor counters are putting up numbers that are comparable with the St. Denis/Berri ones.

I actually was inspired to make this after seeing Montreal's counter dashboard, and being frustrated Toronto didn't have the same: villedemontreal-sum.eco-counter.com
