There's contradictory stuff out there though. bsky.app/profile/reic...
Welp, that’s the Senate side of the shutdown over, it seems.

Thanks. Although that just looks prospective. Those RIFd since the shutdown began are supposed to be rehired. Hopefully that's in the CR too!

No reason for retiring Senators to vote for this. They must be beards for Senators up in '26.

This seemed persuasive until I remembered that the GOP offered a vote on ACA subsidies like weeks ago. So why wait until now, right after an election that created Dem political capital?
Reinstatements are worth something, but it's = to getting hostages back. Encourages more hostage taking.

I'm the spouse of an air traffic controller and I could not be more livid at the news that Dems might cave. I called and left voicemails for my Dem senators. If my family can hold the fucking line, so can they.

Love you dude, but this feels like a cope.

One would think Dems would be extremely wary about shutting the govt down a couple of months after they reopen it for nothing.

Although hard to find any articles in respectable rags about same.

Sadly, lots of respectable non-Axios journos on the other site are tweeting stuff that's consistent with inexplicable caving.

And even with the shutdown, Dems ran the table around the country on Tuesday. So Senate Dem interpretation is that constituents want them to fold without getting anything?

Bunch of journos from other outlets tweeting pretty much the same story. Doesn't *look* like they are all just working from the Axios story, though possible.

And the vote will be no, so what was the point of all this?

And yet per journo Twitter chatter, Senate Dems are about to cave. . .

Astonishing how hard this administration is working to keep people hungry.
It's clear they are trying maximize public suffering, in hopes of getting people to blame Dems for that suffering. But it's transparently the White House working overtime to keep the suffering going!

Yikes. USDA sent threatening letter to states telling them that if they sent out EBT money —which many states did during the window when a lower court said SNAP funds had to be released—they have to take it back (?)
Trying to sort out what this means and if states even can claw back the funds
